Witness Protection Widow is a mixed bag of romance tropes mixed up with a healthy dose of suspense. There's second chance romance, law enforcement, small town, and maybe just a touch of enemies-to-lovers, just to name a few. Allison and Jaxson do have good chemistry, and the story has plenty of intrigue and adventure to keep the pages turning. This one is part of a series, but the author works in any backstory we need as things progress in the book. I do like that the backstory is done organically rather than dumping it all at once, and this book does work as a standalone. The story is fast-paced, well written, and entertaining. I haven't had the pleasure of reading the earlier books in the series, but this one does have my curiosity peaked.

I sat down and read this book in one sitting. Plenty of action and steam kept me riveted to my seat. She had gone into the marriage wearing rose tinted glasses and no clue who the man beside her truly was. He had left her to pursue his career and his pride kept him from reaching out when she needed him most. They both have made mistakes and now they have the chance to make things right. This is a fast paced read with plenty of intrigue and high energy. This is my first read by this author and I am glad I had the opportunity to try her out. I will definitly be back for more.

When Allison James escapes her abusive marriage, she becomes the star witness against her deceased husband’s family. It is the job of the US Marshals to protect her; but Ali is concerned when it’s her ex-boyfriend Jaxson Stevens on the job. Keeping Ali safe should be a no-brainer for Jax, but as the danger to them grows and sexual sparks fly, Jax begins to wonder if he and Ali will escape her coldblooded in-laws alive. Ms. Webb wrote an emotional, suspenseful, and sexy story that should not be missed. She provided a tale rich with sexual chemistry, humor, and endearing characters giving Jax a chance to prove he still loves Ali and that there really is a future for them; together.
