Ghost is book 2 in the Colony: Holiday series of bite sized stories centered around a colony of intermingling aliens and humans as they get to know one another. The books can be read standalone and in any order. It is written in third person omniscient perspective from both leads' (alternating) point of view. These really are a lot of fun. Don't get me wrong, there's always a spoonful (at least) of dark in Mrs. Carlton's books, but overall this whole series seems to focus on the sweet. Ghost is a Djinn with the ability to be completely incorporeal and even survive in space! I think I was tickled most by the fact he can pick is skin color and started out with purple (I'd've definitely picked that). This little morsel of a story is his interesting rescue mission that sees him meeting Maia, helping her deliver an unexpected baby, and managing to fall for her in the process. The couple are adorable and I love how take charge/take no prisoners Maia is. Consummate nurse, that one. If you like your sci-fi with aliens, you nurses ruthless, your romance sweet, steamy, and a little unconventional, then this is a great story for you.

l have a soft spot for colony aliens. Tis story will not disappoint. Getting over your own trouble is hard. Helping another is impossible when you want to wrap them in protective layers and keep them safe until they heal. Not everyone wants to be cared for and protected in this way. A gutsy, compelling story that lets you know all is nott normal when you add hormones and babies.

I received a free book and the views and opinions are my own. Talk about surprises, first Maia wakes up to find an alien ready to sedate her, she fights back and wins. Then she finds out the alien has impregnated her. I love that Maia is a strong female heroine who can defend herself and i had to laugh when she sneaks up on the Ghost and shoots him with a tranquilizer. This was a fun, fast read. I would recommend this book.
