About the author

Donald M. Goldstein is a retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant colonel, a professor of public and international affairs, and a best-selling author. He lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The late Harry J. Maihafer, a West Point graduate and retired U.S. Army colonel, held a master's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri. He authored War of Words: Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War Press; The General and the Journalists: Ulysses S. Grant, Horace Greeley,and Charles Dana; Oblivion: The Mystery of West Point Cadet Richard Cox; and Brave Decisions: Moral Courage From the Revolutionary War to Desert Storm.
