ए.पी.जे. अब्दुल कलाम भारत के सर्वाधिक जाने-माने वैज्ञानिकों में से हैं। उन्हें भारत का प्रथम उपग्रह प्रक्षेपास्त्र वाहन, एस.एल.वी.-3 और सामरिक प्रक्षेपास्त्रों के विकास का श्रेय प्राप्‍त है। उन्होंने भारत को आर्थिक रूप से विकसित राष्ट्र बनाने की रूपरेखा ‘भारत विजन 2020’ तैयार करवाई। उन्होंने भारत के राष्ट्रपति पद को भी सुशोभित किया। उन्हें विश्‍व के अड़तीस विश्‍वविद्यालयों ने डॉक्टरेट की मानद उपाधियों से सम्मानित किया है। उन्हें भारत के तीन सर्वोच्च नागरिक सम्मान ‘पद‍भूषण’, ‘पद‍्मविभूषण’ और ‘भारत रत्‍न’ भी प्रदान किए गए। कलाम ने विभिन्न विषयों पर पंद्रह पुस्तकें लिखी हैं, जिनका विश्‍व भर की अनेक भाषाओं में अनुवाद हुआ है। अब वे कई अंतरराष्ट्रीय संस्थानों में विभिन्न सामाजिक विषयों पर व्याख्यान देते हैं। --- वाइ. सुंदर राजन भारतीय उद्योग परिसंघ (C.I.I.) के प्रमुख सलाहकार और ‘टाइफैक’ (TIFAC) के कार्यकारी निदेशक हैं। वे सन् 1966-88 तक ‘इसरो’ (ISRO) एवं डिपार्टमेंट ऑफ स्पेस से संबद्ध रहे और उपग्रह कार्यक्रम में सक्रिय रूप से भाग लिया। उन्होंने पूर्व राष्ट्रपति डॉ. ए.पी.जे. अब्दुल कलाम के साथ मिलकर ‘भारत 2020 : नवनिर्माण की रूपरेखा’ एवं ‘महाशक्‍त‌ि भारत’ जैसी प्रसिद्ध पुस्तकों के अतिरिक्त ‘ए टु जेड ऑफ सक्सेज’, ‘सफलता के 400 सूत्र’, ‘शक्तिपुंज भारतवासी’, ‘चूजिंग कॅरियर पाथ्स’ तथा ‘रिमोट सेंसिंग’ पर एक पुस्तक की रचना की है।
