New Syllabus Mathematics Workbook (Express) is written in line with the new Singapore-Cambridge GCE �O� Level Examination and the new initiatives of the Ministry of Education.

The workbook consists of exercises which prepare students for their examinations. The more difficult questions are marked with an *.


To encourage student-centred learning, the workbook includes non-routine types of worksheets that are classified under the section, Alternative Assessment. These worksheets encourage students to learn independently through carefully-guided steps and the use of IT. Students are motivated to investigate mathematical concepts with various methods and think critically, so that they will understand and appreciate the concepts better. The teacher can gauge the students� learning by assessing the work with the scoring rubric found at the end of the relevant worksheets. The workbook is accompanied with a CD-ROM that contains templates to be used with some worksheets.


It is hoped that with the use of various pedagogies, different types of students will be inspired to achieve success in mathematics.

About the author

Dr. Yeap Ban Har leads the teaching faculty at a global professional development institute in Singapore. Dr. Yeap is an established name in teacher professional development, having presented at several keynote lectures at international conferences and written for academic publications. He is also the director of curriculum and professional development at Pathlight School in Singapore.

As experienced educator, Dr. Yeap spent ten years at the National Institute of Education, Singapore, where he taught a range of teacher education courses and was involved in several funded research in mathematics education. He continues to teach courses at tertiary institution in adjunct positions. He also sits on the advisory board of several schools in Singapore and Asia.

Dr. Yeap holds Master of Arts in Southeast Asian Studies, Master of Education and Ph.D. in mathematics education.
