About this eBook

England, 1838. Gabriel Campbell, Duke of Lynford never intended to carry that title, but when his reckless brother gets himself killed in a duel over a woman, Gabe has no choice. Now he’s sworn off love, blaming the woman that broke his brother’s heart and led to his untimely death.

Lilith Crisp, Lady Thornton, knew from a young age that pretty girls grow up and get married off to the highest bidder. Being paraded around London as her husband’s trophy has taught her some unique skills and now she can manipulate any man for his darkest secrets.

Gabriel's position in the Brotherhood of the Sword leads him directly to Lilith’s door. For Gabe, Lilith is the one woman he’s always wanted, and Lilith is now forced to deal with a man who seems immune to her charms. But a secret about Lilith’s niece brings them together to face a danger that threatens not only their lives, but the fate of England’s Crown. Resisting Lilith is getting more and more difficult and Gabe finally recognizes that he can’t keep blaming her for his brother’s fate. Finding love means forgiving the past and that might be the one thing they simply can’t do...

The Brotherhood of the Sword series is best enjoyed in order.

Lilith Jensen and Gabriel Campbell first met by chance at a soirée in 1833 while she was out looking at the stars; her father wanted her to marry money. Gabriel is a rake, and a real charmer. But his brother Rafael asked Lilith to dance, and their lives were irrevocably changed. Lilith and Gabriel meet again in 1838, Lilith is now Lilith Crisp, Lady Thornton, and Gabriel the Duke of Lynford after the unfortunate death of his elder brother to the hand of Thornton in a duel. Gabriel works for the Brotherhood of the Sword, a covert organisation dedicated to protecting the Crown, the young Queen Victoria. A man tried to assassinate the Queen, and was shot by a member of the Brotherhood, but when Gabe examines the body, he’s convinced it’s not the same man he had seen before! Lilith’s husband has been missing for more than a week, and he could be the dead man. Right from the start, I knew I was going to love DUELING WITH THE DUKE, and it kept getting better and better as I read! The story unfolds at a brisk pace, and it’s very well written, and plot-wise, it’s impeccable. I loved that Gabriel is a hero quite different from what we’re accustomed to, and there is a delightful spoiler that I shall not reveal! I had also loved both Lilith and Gabriel from the beginning, and as the story progressed, they got more intriguing and enticing. The sex scenes are positively sublime, restrained but erotically elegant. And what a lovely, lovely romance it is. DUELING WITH THE DUKE is very romantic, exciting; delightful! I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
