About this eBook

"Crybaby, Crybaby!" That's what Russell calls Elisa whenever she gets upset, and she hates it. Elisa does get frustrated sometimes, like when she can't wear her favorite red shirt to school. But that doesn't mean she can't do other things -- like trade her mittens for a tooth so that the tooth fairy will come sooner, or have a beach party in the middle of winter -- whenever and however she wants!"

About the author

Johanna Hurwitz, the author of more than 70 popular children's books, began her career as a children's librarian working for the New York Public Library as well as school and other public libraries. Married and the mother of two grown children and grandmother of three, Johanna says that many of her books have grown out of family life or observations made during her library work. Her first book was Busybody Nora and it gradually grew into a series of fourteen books about city kids living in an apartment building. Nora and her brother Teddy as well as their neighbors Russell and Elisa interact with their neighbors and their city environment. Because they live near and play often in Riverside Park, this series was eventually named "The Riverside Kids." Each book is made up of six self-contained chapters which can be read individually or together. Other books by Johanna Hurwitz include Hot & Cold Summer and books about the three other seasons. Also Baseball Fever, The Adventures of Ali Baba Bernstein, Class Clown (novel and play format), Aldo Applesauce, Peewee's Tale and biographies of Anne Frank, Leonard Bernstein, Helen Keller and Astrid Lindgren. A graduate of Queens College and with a Master's Degree in Library Science from Columbia University, Ms. Hurwitz has taught courses in writing for children and storytelling. Born and raised in New York City, she has now traveled and spoken in schools and conferences in 45 states, as well as abroad in South Africa, Mozambique, Morocco, Tunisia, India, Hungry, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, England, Belgium and Holland.
