Song of the Sword, the first book in The Shards of Excalibur series was nominated for the Sunburst Award, and Twist of the Blade, the second in the series, was nominated for the Prix Aurora Award. His non-fiction writing for young readers has received National Science Teachers Association and VOYA awards.
