關於本電子書

A new 2023 translation into modern American English of Goethe's 1788 Egmont. This edition contains an Afterword by the Translator, a Timeline of Goethe’s Life & Works and a Glossary of Philosophic Terminology used by Goethe. In the 1788 play "Egmont," Goethe explores themes of political resistance and individual freedom. With a masterful command of language and dramatic storytelling, he brings to life the character, Count Egmont, and his valiant struggle against oppression. Goethe depicts the clash between Egmont's unwavering spirit of liberty and the tyrannical forces that seek to suppress it. By delving into the dynamics of power and resistance, he provokes critical reflection on the nature of authority and the courage required to challenge it.
