Eleanor H. Porter, (19 Dec., 1868 21 May, 1920) was a renowned writer of popular novels and short stories. Her novel Pollyanna is all time best seller. Success of this novel encouraged her to write a sequel Pollyanna Grows Up, eventually eleven more Pollyanna sequels were published. Two of her other novels—Miss Billy & Just David were also very

well received. She gave up her career in music to take up writing short stories which were published in leading newspapers and magazines.
