About this eBook

She's a thief with forbidden magic. He's the guy she just stole from. Now they'll have to work together.

In a city where magic is outlawed, teenage thief Ridley uses her special powers to steal from the rich and give to those in need—until the night someone follows her home after a heist and ends up murdered outside her apartment.

When her best friend is accused of the crime, Ridley is determined to prove his innocence.

But things get messy when the artifact Ridley stole turns out to contain secrets that could endanger many lives. Forced to team up with wealthy Archer—the guy she stole from—Ridley must hunt down the artifact before it winds up in deadly hands.

Which means following a trail into the hidden parts of the city ...

... and hopefully not winding up dead.

Rachel Morgan’s ELEMENTAL THIEF is priceless. Seventeen-year-old Ridley Kaye is a futuristic Robin Hood, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. However, her bigger crime is for using magic in a world where it has been outlawed. This dystopian Urban Fantasy is suitable for young adults. I loved this story. It was skillfully written and original. Ridley is a lovable character. Her family was wealthy until magic was outlawed. Now she is on a scholarship at a prestigious school hoping to make something of her life. Unfortunately, since she comes from a family a magic-users, she has become ostracized by her former friends. A series of events takes place forcing Ridley to work with an unlikely ally, Archer Davenport. He is the older brother of her former best friend. Additionally, one of the influential people that turned her friends against her. I enjoyed the banter between Ridley and Archer. Archer is a mysterious character that kept the story interesting. ELEMENTAL THIEF is fast-paced and full of excitement. It had a cliff hanger ending that is making me anxious to read book two in the Ridley Kayne Chronicles, expected to be released on November 7, 2018. ELEMENTAL THIEF would make a thrilling movie or television series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

In a world where magic has been declared illegal, magic users have gone underground to survive. Ridley Kayne lost her mother in the magical catastrophe that caused the banning of magic and her father lost his business and now they live above her grandfather's old antique shop. Ridley desperately wants to have a good education so she works hard for a scholarship, but in her spare time, she is a thief who uses her magic to gain entrance and go about unseen. When she steals a figurine form Archer Davenport's family she unwittingly becomes part of a world she had not known existed. Together, Ridley and Archer travel to the magical underworld, discover the secrets her father kept from her. Realise that she does not know everything about her best friend and fight to protect the many innocent lives that depend on the safe return of the artifact. Rachel Morgan has created a new and magical world where new adventures beckon and fantasy readers can escape to. I would recommend this book to any lovers of Artemis Fowl, Harry Potter and the like.

Elemental Thief was mesmerizing form the word go! And like I have come to expect from all of Rachel Morgan's books, it was so well written, with plot perfect performance from beginning to end, charismatic and three dimensional characters who develop with equal measure to plot twists and turns - making sure each and every detail (even when I want more from romantic interests than I'm getting,) matches the rise and development of the plot. Elemental Thief is filled with unique magical elements that made me stay up late into the night unable to stop until I finished. And when I reached the last page, knowing there was so much more I needed to know, I wasn't disappointed at all that I have to wait for the next book. It's so awesome to read an author who delivers each and every time, and who creates a story that will give me back everything (and more) I put into reading it. Can't wait for Ridley Kayne Chronicle #2!!
