About this ebook

Navy SEAL on vacation in Mexico wakes up married to a jilted bride and retraces his steps to matrimony

Confirmed bachelor and Navy SEAL Chase Flannigan is celebrating his separation from the Navy in the tropical paradise of Cabo San Lucas. After a particularly hazy night, he wakes up with a ring on his finger and a beautiful woman in his bed, and no memory of how they got there.

Stood up at the altar, jilted bride Maggie Neal snags her best friend and goes on her honeymoon, one groom short only to wind up in bed with a hot SEAL, married and extremely hungover.

Together, Chase and Maggie take a walk down their fractured memories’ lane to discover how they ended up hitched. In the process, they discover a drug cartel with a vendetta against them and a burgeoning love born of respect and adventure, a love they never expected to find in paradise.

** Salty Dog ** is part of the Brotherhood Protectors Series. It is also in the “SEALs in Paradise” connected series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone. They do not have cliffhanger endings.

Elle James - Hot SEAL, Salty Dog: A Brotherhood Protectors Crossover Novel (SEALs in Paradise) I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of this book for an honest review. If you are already a fan of Ms. James' writing and her Brotherhood Protectors then you will enjoy a new character, Chase Flannigan. He is celebrating his leaving the Navy as a Seal and vacationing in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. He has a job lined up in Montana with Hank Patterson and his “Brotherhood Protectors” as soon as this vacation was over. He arrived with his buddy, Travers Anderson who already works for the Brotherhood. Traver’s story was told in the “Brotherhood Protectors” – Book 11. A third X-Navy Seal, Carson, which by the way, will have his own story in the next “Seals in Paradise” -Book 2- by Delilah Devlin. The story starts with Chase, a proud confirmed bachelor, waking up from a night of too much drinking “and” with a wedding band on. The woman he married is in his bed and he doesn’t remember anything about last night. When Maggie Neal wakes up she believes him to be a predator and threatens him to get the authorities. After the marriage license was found, they agreed to retrace their steps from last night and find out what happened. Along the way, they started remembering what did happen. First, they remembered why they liked each other and the passionate night they had together. They also remembered that a leader of a local drug cartel tried to hit on Maggie and Chase stepped in and “whipped” some a$$ and several of the cartel’s men. Now the leader of the cartel is after Chase because he “Whipped” him in front of his men. He also wants the pretty blond for himself. When Maggie is kidnapped by the cartel, three (Chase, Trevor and Carson) X-Navy Seals must find her and defeat the Cartel and perhaps 100-200- of the Cartel’s thugs. They agreed this is a suicide mission, but Chase had to rescue Maggie because he has fallen hard for her and he will sacrifice himself for her. Can they find Maggie in time and can they defeat the number of cartel thugs and live to tell the story? If only Chase had the could have the Brotherhood Protector’s to have his back. Is that even possible?

Good story; lots of suspense. Hot SEAL Salty Dog begins a new series – SEALs in Paradise – but also crosses over with Elle James' Brotherhood Protector series (which I really like). SEALs in Paradise promises to be a great series with books by several authors who's work I enjoy. While it's part of a series it can easily be read as a standalone without feeling like you've missed anything. The story has Elle's engaging style of humor, suspense, and romance which always provide this reader with an enjoyable reading experience. The blurb is pretty accurate. I'll add that the story was very entertaining and I think SEALs in Paradise is going to be a great new series. An advanced copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

This didn't feel like it written by this author. I've read several others by her, and it just didn't feel the same. The story was a good one, but seemed choppy or perhaps rushed. There were a few instances that it seemed like something else had been written and then changed. The plot itself was good- two people waking up next to each other, wearing wedding rings, and no memory of the night before. Then they have to figure out what happened, especially when there's a threat. There's a touch of romance, but nothing heavy. Felt like it could have been more of a romantic suspense movie than a book. A quick but fun read though. I got a kick out of references to McP's in Coronado, CA since I've been there myself.
