About the author
Else Ury wurde am 1. November 1877 in Berlin geboren. Ab 1905 war sie hauptsächlich als Autorin von Kinderbüchern tätig. Urys Hauptwerk ist die zehnbändige "Nesthäkchen"-Reihe, die mehrmals überarbeitet und neu aufgelegt wurde. Nach der Machtergreifung der Nationalsozialisten erhielt die jüdische Schriftstellerin Schreibverbot und ihre populären Bücher durften nicht mehr veröffentlicht werden. 1943 wurde Else Ury ins Konzentrationslager Auschwitz deportiert und dort ermordet.
