About this ebook

The completed series starts here! All nine books of the Steamborn Series are now available.

A supernatural swarm. A treacherous scheme. A tinker’s apprentice may be the village’s only hope…

Jacob has yet to meet a gadget he couldn’t fix or an adventure he could resist. With trade routes to his remote Lowlands town cut off, Jacob must exchange his boyhood adventures for petty theft. After all, his wages at the tinker shop aren’t enough to pay for his father’s medicine.

But it soon becomes clear why few merchants brave the nearby roads as a plague of terrifying creatures descends upon the town. With the Lowlands under siege, Jacob and his friend have no choice but to run for their lives. When their escape uncovers a terrible secret, Jacob learns there are those who’ll stop at nothing to make sure the teen takes the scandal to his grave…

I stumbled across Eric R, Asher's "Steamborn" & enjoyed my trip through his world. The setting is steampunk, but with a post-apocalyptic twist. Our protagonist is Jacob - a young man with a flair for gadgets. We're offered insights into how his world came to be & get to see how he chooses to deal with his life. Also - spiders & bugs play a big role in this novel. That in of itself is pretty novel. I think you'll enjoy this tale.

I have not heard of this author, but am a big Steampunk fan, so thought I would give this a try. This is a story of political struggles, friendships, and society trying to get back on its feet. Throw into the mix some interesting contraptions that aren't too technical but very useful, giant insects and plenty of betrayal, and you have Steamborn. I wasn't immediately impressed at the beginning as giant insects invading seemed very 1950s SCI-FI rip off. Read past this and it gets better.....

You seriously need to read this book! ! One of the best I've ever read, and I read alot. Original story line and great character development makes for a very enjoyable read. There is so much detail you become immersed in the story , (which is the goal of every good writer), and at that point you are no longer just a reader. You become a companion to Alice and Jacob, not just an observer, as their story unfolds. I cannot wait to see what happens next! And I will gladly read anything this author writes.
