Oak is a man who is strong in his convictions. He knows what he wants in his life, his brotherhood, a good ranching life, and a good woman. He's got most of those, and but never expects to find the good woman in the middle of a bar. When he sees her, he feels that pull and connection instantly. His need to protect her shocks him. His need to have her, not so much. He knows he has to win her in more ways than one. Lottie is a woman who is determined to make a good life for herself and her daughter. Her decisions have affected her life for a long time. Some of it wasn't so great, but in her recklessness, she gained the best gift ever, her daughter. Now, she's working hard to make a good life for them, while running her family's bar. When she sees him, she feels that pull and connection too. It's been a long time since she's felt such anticipation at something good. She lets that feeling take over and gives her a moment of reprieve. When their past shows up, it may prove to be a make it or break it time. He wants to shield his new family from danger. She wants the same but is worried their attempts won't be the same. Can they make it work, and build up? This is another winner in the CBMC series! I loved the passion and dedication Oak had for Lottie and her daughter. The connection he had with her daughter really showed and was so beautiful. They're both such strong characters! I love a good insta love with a sassy woman and over-the-top alpha man. They both hold their own, and that's so important with characters like these. Also enjoyed the small appearances of characters from another of the author's series. It makes me wonder if there will be an appearance of another second-generation spin-off? Such a great book!
