Love your writing style. I've purchased every book in this series. It's time to move on though. I've been disappointed in the order and plot for the last 2 or 3 books and probably won't purchase another one for this series. Too many inside men, to many threats to the family, and too much redundancy. I know it's hard to one up the previous novel but the peak is hitting the family and finding bad guys on the inside which happened several novels ago. In the final showdown for this book there were 3 of the biggest baddest guys fighting at the same time and all of them lost. How did a man with a past like the inside guy work his way up so far? The FBI is very critical and does extensive searches on people before they can get in. My opinion. Go with Tessa. Skip a few years ahead and make her follow in Patrick's place. You've developed a great character in her and an intelligent one that people would love to follow. Make her a pioneer in CSI, or an inside informant for the FBI, or something fun. Don't keep going backwards though. To new people picking up the series and reading in order it may be ok but to the seasoned veterans such as myself that read the Pawn straight off the shelf I have a hard time going 10+ years back to remember how the books fit. One novel back may have been ok but I'm confused and I've lost interest now. I miss the first days when it was one or two bad guys and they were unique in thier own way. Now we have books with more bad guys than good. Keep writing Steven James! Just take a different path. Patrick Bowers is up for retirement. ;)
