The research in this book is not always accurate. Make sure you prove what you read. The info on Jenkins Fitzgerald is a combination of 2 different people. The Jenkins who was married to Emeline Ward was born in 1806 and died in Indiana on 13 May 1878. He and Emeline had a son, Jenkins,Jr. who was born in 1858 and was too young to serve in the Civil War. However, the Jenkins who served in the Civil war was the son of Joab Fitzgerald and the nephew of Jenkins, Sr...as well a a nephew to my GGGrandmother. He was born in 1839, became a career soldier after having served in the Civil War, serving as a surgeon throughout the Western Indian Wars including the war with Chief Joseph and the Nez Perce Indians. He was married to Emily McCorkle of Pennsylvania who wrote letters home from places that they were stationed which were published in a book. They are all ancestors of whom I am very proud.

This book is UNSEARCHABLE - a common problem with Google Books! It contains valuable genealogical information, but one has to find the index in order to view the surname listings. Also, in the case of the Willoughby surname I am researching, only a fraction of the names are listed in the Index.
