About the author
Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) war ein britischer Arzt und Schriftsteller. Aufgewachsen in Schottland, studierte er Medizin in Edinburgh und lebte später in England. 1887 veröffentlichte er seine erste Detektivgeschichte über Sherlock Holmes und dessen Freund Dr. Watson und wurde damit weltberühmt. Die Erzählungen sind bis heute ein Klassiker der Kriminalliteratur. Insgesamt gibt es vier Sherlock-Holmes-Romane und 56 Kurzgeschichten.
