Hans Christian Andersen (1805–1875) was a Danish writer best remembered for his fairy tale collections. His work is popular around the world and has been adapted many times for the stage and screen. The author of over 150 stories, his most celebrated tales include ‘Thumbelina’ (1835), ‘The Little Mermaid’ (1837), and ‘The Snow Queen’ (1844).
