Introduced alternative ways to communicate. In this story Julie uses a talking board to communicate with her friends. My son has Autism and is non verbal so this was a great story for him.

Autism is a disability so Julia has sensitive ears so this book shows the understanding of autism so some autistics are non verbal and some are verbal

Lovely book. I have Autism and can really relate to Julia, especially when she gets upset when she loses Fluffster:(
