About this eBook

Feed is an electrifying and critically acclaimed novel of a world a half-step from our own that the New York Times calls “Astonishing” — a novel of zombies, geeks, politics, social media, and the virus that runs through them all — from New York Times bestseller Mira Grant.

The year was 2014. We had cured cancer. We had beat the common cold. But in doing so we created something new, something terrible that no one could stop. The infection spread, virus blocks taking over bodies and minds with one, unstoppable command: FEED.

Now, twenty years after the Rising, Georgia and Shaun Mason are on the trail of the biggest story of their lives—the dark conspiracy behind the infected. The truth will out, even if it kills them.

While it was a well written book, after about halfway through I struggled to stay involved with this story line. There is more talk about the technicalities of reporting and the behind the scenes of a presidential campaign in the post zombie apocolypse than anything else. Not exactly riveting stuff. Maybe it gets better at the end, but I think I'll throw myself to a zombie horde before I endure any more.

This book is a fantastic exploration of what could happen if the Zombie Apocalypse were to happen tomorrow. It provides an effective exploration of modern society, zombies, and a Dystopian future and helps the reader to explore what life as usual may look like. I found the book well written, albeit a bit predictable. That said, I read it in a day. I highly recommend this book. I'm excited to read the rest of the Newsflesh series.

The pro: Talented writer who obviously put a lot of thought and research into the book. The con: I was left not caring page after page. Bottom line: It may sound ludicrous for someone into zombie fiction to say that they couldn't accept the portrait being painted of the characters, their work, or their world as realistic, but frankly, I never once found myself believing in anything about this story. Strange as it may seem I think the whole Blogger angle which is the books vehicle is what sunk the novel. The author needed a good editor to let her know that she needed less exposition about Bloggers in the world of undead and more *ahem* meat to the story itself. It's a shame because the premises of a presidential election after the dead have risen is an interesting angle alone.
