About this eBook

War makes strange bedfellows in this “awesome read . . . the perfect mix of mystery, action, and romance” from the New York Times bestselling author (BTH Reviews).

I, Gaius Domitus, one-eyed rebel dragon king of the Provinces, know better than most that sacrifices must be made, since I have to fight off half my ungrateful family on a regular basis to keep law and order here in my lands. But I never expected to have to consort with a barbarian human woman.

Kachka is beautiful, if you like them fierce—and of course I do. But she keeps complaining about how spoiled and decadent I am, and how a feared Daughter of the Steppes has no time for foolish dragons. I think she likes my eye patch, though. It is quite dashing. With death always at our tails, we take our passion like we take our allies. As they say, love the barbarian you’re with . . .

To keep law and order, Gaius Domitus, the one-eyed rebel dragon king must fight off half his ungrateful family and while war makes strange bedfellows, he never expected to have to consort with a barbarian human woman in this thrilling paranormal romance. Kachka is a feared Daughter of the Steppes and has no time for foolish decadent dragons and the reader can’t help but get drawn into this explosive story as they find an unexpected romance while they take on their on their enemies. The chemistry is sizzling and the sex scenes are quite combustible but it’s the relationship that is sitting on a keg of dynamite just waiting for the fuse to be lit as there is lots of snarky attitude and fierce passion to be found. The characters are strong, witty and charming in their own way and they demand that you pay attention while they set out to save their territories from the evil evading them and the steady to fast paced plot flows smoothly with lots of suspense, excitement, humor and romance with lots of snarky dialogue and combative clashes (usually between the dragons but not always) to add lots of chuckles and spice. Spine tingling tension and excitement builds throughout the story as the evil cult continues to “purify” the temples which has Annwyl the Bloody sending Kachka to take action and Gaius has his own problems protecting his kingdom from the evil part of his family and that’s only the beginning as goddesses and betrayals keep the pressures up and the war begins. The well written scenes and details bring the story to life as they capture the imagination and make it easy for the reader to become absorbed in the story. The Dragon Kin series just keeps getting better and better as I was completely spellbound by the never ending thrills, action and volatile characters of this story and I can’t wait to find out what happens next now that the war has begun.

At first the Elina and Kachka were irritating but I love them after a few chapters in. They are hilarious and breathes life into this series after so many books, so many strong female characters and so many battles. This book like the others of this series are not really standalone books, they only really make sense if you read the others in the series. Not sure how long the author is planning on dragging out the final battle but hopefully it gets resolved in the next book or so.

This was fabulous! I loved the daughters of the steppes, especially Zoya, I want Zoya in every book ever!!!! But of course, our couple does not feel the same way, but really they do, they just don’t want to admit it. There was a tonne of storyline here and the ultimate clash between the bad guys and our heroes is building to a crescendo. Key players are making moves, secrets are being divulged, and old enemies are popping up. In the middle of it all, Gaius and Katcha end up falling for the other
