About this eBook

National bestselling authors Barb and J. C. Hendee present the newest breathtaking chapter in the epic Noble Dead saga....

Waylaid in their quest for the orb of the Air, Magiere, Leesil, Chap, and Wayfarer have all been wrongly imprisoned. But it is Magiere, the dhampir, who suffers the most as a cloaked interrogator employs telepathic torture.

Arriving at the Suman port city in search of Magiere, Wynn Hygeorht and her companions—including vampire Chane Andraso—seek out Domin Ghassan il’Sänke for assistance, which proves no easy task. The domin is embroiled in a secret hunt for a spectral undead with the power to invade anyone living and take the body as its host.

Even if Wynn can manage to free her friends from prison, battling this entirely new kind of undead hidden inside host bodies may be a challenge none of them can survive....

After several books of being separated or just passing glimpses of each other, all the characters are now back in the same book. Finally. Most of the drama between them has still been pushed off to the side for now though as they complete their orb collection and deal with undead enemies old and new. With the last several books being snail paced, the brisk pacing and lack of travelogue is very welcome. Long stretches of time are skipped over entirely or only told through flashback making this novel seem to fly by. Fans of the series will enjoy this one. Several characters get much more POV time -Wayfarer, Osha and Ghassan stand out. And the new one book characters- the Prince and co have a purposeful but thankfully short and poignant role. Magiere, Leesil, Chap, Wynn, Chane, Shade and Brotanduive are all the characters we love and seeing them all together and interacting was a highlight. The prison breakout plot and royal palace intrigues were enjoyable. Although, many conveniences started to add up quickly in the beginning they were mostly gone by about a third of the way through. Everyone working together, willingly or not, to trap the undead was the highlight.

I got sucked in years and years ago!!! I don't mind the wait in between books, so I know the storyline won't drop... Not even a little.
