Françoise Leclerc, âgée de six ans, quitte Bordeaux pour le Sénégal où elle vivra avec sa famille dans un dispensaire de brousse. À quatorze ans, sauvage et illettrée, elle reviendra au pays natal. Poète, elle a collaboré à la revue Éthiopique de Léopold Sédar Senghor et a reçu le prix du ministre d'État chargé des Affaires Culturelles.
