About the author

Dr Shun-Ping Chen studied Electrical Engineering and Communication Technologies and Systems at the Technical University Braunschweig, Germany, and received his PhD with a thesis on the components of optoelectronic integration in 1992. In 1995, he became a project specialist and project manager, then group leader and head of department at the German mobile network operator E-Plus Mobile Network, where he was responsible for transport network planning and systems. He is currently a Professor of Communication Technologies and Networks at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, Germany, where he is also the Director of the Institute of Communication Technologies.
