This is the first Stephen Hunter novel for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The number of negative reviews surprised me but you cannot please everyone. I enjoy reading historical novels and detailed descriptions that might bore others. This novel was right up my alley because I am currently writing a short story entitled Cup of Joe. The wife of one of the main characters is Lester Gillis' grandaughter (aka Baby Face Nelson). What are the chances? I won't rehash the story here, just read a few of

About the author
Stephen Hunter is the author of 20 novels and the retired chief film critic for The Washington Post, where he won the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for Distinguished Criticism. His novels include The Third Bullet; Sniper's Honor; I, Sniper; I, Ripper; and Point of Impact, which was adapted for film and TV as Shooter. Hunter lives in Baltimore, Maryland.
