Peter Laprade
Garrett's economic novel on railroads & the 1890s(and early 1900s) is interesting. New York City itself is aptly described back then, and through the eyes of the unnamed narrator, the magnetic & irrepressible Henry Galt comes to life. Certainly an inspiration for later novels by Ayn Rand. I don't agree with some of the conclusions but Garrett tells a compelling story and he would ideally see businesses act more countercyclical. Entertaining read at least.
