If you are a fan of factual tales of India (in this case a region that is now Pakistan)from British colonial times, this book is sure to delight. The scanned pages are easy enough to read on a computer but are too small for my smart phone. The scans include the pictures and photographs which allow the reader an additional element that helps to flesh out the story somewhat. The author creates a smoothly flowing story from what would have been some rather simple despatches. An understanding of the region and of late 19th and early 20th century British millitary forces will aid the reader but are not required to enjoy the account of the relief of Chitral. Some years after this account my grandfather was stationed in the region so I have a strong interest in it. The average reader may find the tale a little less dynamic but altogether worthwhile. It is a relatively short book and an easy read.
