They live in the big houses on the pretty street. Those other women, as we call them. And to think I used to want to be like them, to have their money and happiness, to live and laugh and play like them. Not any more.

It’s the fourth of July and the whole town is gathered at the local pool. Through the sweltering afternoon, we single mothers don’t mix with the other women––the ones with the perfect lives and happy marriages. Women like Sabine Miller. But when Sabine shoots me a desperate look across the water and suddenly disappears, my blood runs cold…

Running to the back gate, all I find is a silver charm bracelet she dropped on her way out. I convince myself I’m imagining things until Sabine’s husband Mark appears. When he realizes she’s missing, he phones the cops straight away. “Someone has been threatening Sabine,” he says. “Now they’ve kidnapped her.”

Hours later, I wish I’d run faster. The whole town is searching the streets, calling Sabine’s name over and over. On the TV, Mark is begging for someone to bring his wife home.

The truth is, I was the last person to see her alive––and it’s killing me inside. Now the cops are at my door asking questions. I’m terrified they’ll find out what happened years ago between me and Sabine. Something I’ve never told anyone.

But I need to tell someone. Can you keep a secret?

From bestselling author Georgina Cross, the most exciting new voice in suspense, comes a twisted and unputdownable psychological thriller about the power and damage of secrets behind closed doors. Perfect for anyone who was totally hooked by The Wife Between Us, Big Little Lies or Gone Girl.

Sabine Miller is the missing woman. On a scorching hot Fourth of July in the late afternoon, she leaves the neighborhood pool and vanishes. Married to Mark Miller, the hunky county councilman, she lives in an expensive neighborhood, has loyal best friends and a perfect marriage. Could she have left voluntarily? Or has something else happened? Erica and Tish were at the pool when Sabine disappeared. Joined by their friend Amanda, they sort through rumors and the gossipy tidbits Amanda learns at her city hall job. While Amanda is revealing secrets, Tish and Erica have been hiding them. A secret relationship has placed Tish in the middle of the investigation and the secret Erica has kept for years will put her and her friends in grave danger. The Missing Woman is the best kind of domestic thriller. A slow, well-paced start, suspense that gradually builds to the unbearable, and sympathetic, dynamic characters. I’ve been a fan of Georgina Cross since I read The Stepdaughter. I’m looking forward to what comes next from this amazing author! 5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Georgina Cross for this ARC.

After a fantastic debut last year with The Stepdaughter, I could not wait for Georgina Cross to release her next book. Thankfully I didn’t have long to wait. When the opportunity presented itself to be able to read and review an advanced copy of The Missing Woman, I jumped at the chance. They say that two can keep a secret, if one of them is dead. Erica is haunted by a secret that she needs to share with you. Even though there was the usual separation of classes at the 4th of July pool party, it seemed to be a good day for all. That is, until Sabine’s husband makes a desperate call to the police saying that Sabine has been kidnapped. What does this mean for Erica when she realises that the mystery that Sabine has left behind, along with her gold bracelet, is one that she may have been able to prevent if she had gotten there faster. Now, as perhaps the last person who saw Sabine, she has to contend with the possibility of her secrets being revealed. Once again Georgina Cross took me hostage with a story that just consumed me from start to finish. I was only a few chapters in, when I realised I was in a standoff with myself, wanting to savour each page and wanting to see how it was going to unfold. The latter won and I flew through it in one sitting. My Kindle got quite the workout while I read this! I was caught up in the mystery of Sabine’s disappearance and like the characters, desperate to know what had happened and if she was ok. Along the way secrets that have been buried deep, rise to the surface, giving you reason to question everyone as past events are brought to light in the form of a twist I did not see coming! The Missing Woman is another smashing read from Georgina Cross. It is compelling, emotive, perfectly written, has strong characters, keeps you on the edge of your seat, and that ending… I had all the feelings about how this ended. I can’t tell you what they were of course as that would be a spoiler, but let me tell you I had all the feelings! I think it’s clear that I loved this book and if I could give it more than 5 stars I would. What I will say is, The Missing Woman is a book I can’t recommend highly enough and is the first book that will be part of my best books for 2021! It was an absolute pleasure to read and review The Missing Woman and I can’t wait to see what Georgina Cross will come up with for us next.

My Review: Wow, wow, wow!!!!! I’m speechless. Where to begin. This was my first book by Georgina Cross and boy did it rock my world. I couldn’t put it down for the life on me. There were so many surprises. It felt like it was Christmas morning all over again. Don’t miss out on this one!!!!! This book was about three best friends trying to figure out what happened to a woman who was a beloved figure in their community. She just upped and disappeared. It looked like there was a break in at her house along with a trail of blood. She must not have been loved by all. What possibly could this saint of a woman have done wrong? Was it her husband? Has he been hiding secrets? Or was she just plain tired of being a saint? I want to start off by saying how much I loved this book. I loved the characters so very much. You had three women who were gossip queens trying to figure out what happened to a woman they knew. They were very nosey but each had a connection of their own to the missing woman. I loved finding out what those connections were. I especially loved Erica and her secrets and once you read this book you will find out why. On to the plot. If you read my blog then you all know how I love a good missing persons case. I always want it to be the husband but it usually doesn’t turn out that way. I’m totally laughing at what I wrote but hey it’s true, it’s always the ones closest to you. Now the ending. Boy did I love that ending. That had some shocking twists I didn’t see coming. It was like getting hit with a foul ball at a baseball game that you never saw coming. It took a really dark turn at the end, I loved it Georgina Cross. Between the plot, characters and all the twists in this book it made it an easy and fast read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
