Eine 50 Texte umfassende Märchensammlung aus dem 17. Jahrhundert: Der ursprünglich als "Märchen der Märchen" betitelte Band ist in fünf Tage aufgegliedert. Zehn Frauen erzählen an jedem dieser fünf Tage jeweils ein Märchen. Somit ist eine beachtliche Sammlung entstanden, die u.a. bei den Gebrüdern Grimm und Clemens Brentano Beachtung fanden und von ihnen zusammengefasst oder modernisiert wurden.-
About the author
Giambattista Basile (1575-1632) war ein italienischer Schriftsteller. Bereits während seiner Zeit als Soldat begann er zu dichten und wurde 1608 zum Hofpoeten am Fürstenhof von Neapel ernannt. Er machte sich vor allem einen Namen mit seinen Märchen, aber auch mit seinen Gedichten und Theaterstücken. Sein bekanntestes Werk ist die Märchensammlung "Il Pentamerone".
