About this ebook
O termo caricatura, vem do italiano; significa exagerar, carregar. Com este sentido a caricatura surgiu no século XVII com o pintor Agostino Carracci da Bolonha, artista que criou uma galeria de tipos populares da sua cidade. Outros artistas da Escola de Bologna também se destacam nessa forma de arte, como Domenichino e Guercino. Pier Leone Ghezzi (1674 – 1755) foi um dos primeiros a dedicar-se quase que integralmente à realização de caricaturas.
