First, let me say I love this author and have been going through an impressive collection of her works. But this book; my 7th, 8th, or so book is my least favorite. It is not that it is not fantastic writing. It is because it was so darn frustrating! The back and forth miscommunication and lack of common sense between two hearts was maddening! And don't get me started on the villains of the story. I actually looked forward to the ending, and what an ending it was. The ending did make up for the frustration I felt from the start of the book, so all was not lost. Just take my advice, if you're new to the author, don't start with this book. I'm off to read the 2nd book in this series and will hope for less head beating the wall moments.

i hated this book. the main characters had no chemistry. Any and all "romanic" scenes in the book were unbelievable. Linet was a self focused, angry harpy. Duncan was a delusional bro who thought he was absolutely fantastic, and women should let him do whatever he wants with them and be grateful about it. It was like the author had the main characters possess all negative gender tropes of this genre and throw them together. It did not work. Every chapter was the same - Duncan saves Linets life. Linet gets angry and has no gratitude. she constantly reminds him of her importance because of her noble blood and how far above peasants she is. I couldn't finish it.

The oldest of 3 De Ware Brothers. Hides his wealth & title, to find love for himself alone. I like that he takes care of his 20 children. & Keeps knights honor to protect the Wool merchant. She thinks he is a commoner & foolishly trusts the evil thieves. Well plotted. Thanks Series. Characters including his family. I especially like their mother. I also like their father.
