About the author
Gotthold Ephraim Lessing wurde am 1729 in Kamenz geboren. Er studierte Theologie und Medizin, widmete sich jedoch immer mehr der Literatur und wurde schließlich Dramaturg und Berater am Hamburger Nationaltheater. Der 1781 in Braunschweig verstorbene Autor gehört zu den bedeutendsten deutschen Schriftstellern der Aufklärung.
