About this ebook

All roads do not lead to Rome! Some branch out, meander, ascend and wait to be explored by a traveller. A group of middle-aged friends, tired of the mundane, come together to explore the roads high in the hills of North Bengal on motorcycles. In their endeavour, they are spurred on by Balaji Devanathan, the Co-Founder of Red Panda adventures. While riding through the hills is a challenge in itself, a bigger challenge lay in first convincing themselves that they could ride a motorcycle once again after twenty years. High on the Hills is as much about their journey to achieve self-confidence as about the breath-taking locales they discover, tucked away in the Hills of Bengal.

About the author

Born in Jamalpur, Bihar, Goutam Dutta’s childhood was spent amongst the beautiful, scenic landscape of Ranchi. His love affair with books started at a young age, prompting him to pick up skills of reading in multiple languages. An engineer by qualification and working in the field of minerals and mining, he began to write short stories and poems purely as an activity to be pursued at leisure. When a few of his short stories were published in “The Chicken Soup for the Soul” series and in an anthology of school tales named “Whispers in the Classroom Voices on the Field,” it gave him the impetus to pursue this skill with greater intent. Thereafter, two self-published books of poetry followed as well as the publication of his Haiku in anthologies titled “The Moons of Autumn” and “The Sound of Brilliance.” He can be followed on his blog gdutta17.wordpress.com and www.straightfromtheheartgd.com and reached on his email gdutta17@gmail.com.
