This was a great book to read, I discovered new-to-me authors that I will definitely be interested in finding more of their work. I admit there were a couple I couldn't read, but there are so many good stories in here, it is worth it. I took my time and enjoyed the theme of all the authors writing about the same masquerade ball. I recommend this book. I was given an advanced reader copy and am voluntarily sharing my honest opinion.

A Midsummer Night's Romance is a great collection stories written by some of the best authors around. The stories are filled with beautiful, costumed women and handsome, masked men. All of the novellas are set at the Whitwell's Annual Masquerade Ball and what a ball it is! There is so much action going on at this ball! There are lover's trysts, fights, mistaken identities, reunions, and more. There are 15 stories in all so it takes some time to read them all, but it is definitely worth it.

I love the idea of a collection of novellas all set during a masquerade ball themed on Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. These romances, written by award-winning authors, have not been previously published. I haven’t had a chance to read them all yet, but all of the stories I have read have made me smile. Many of the stories involve friends to lovers or second chance romances, sometimes helped along by “fairy” godmothers or godfathers. I liked the main characters and enjoyed their sometimes-steamy romances, but I also appreciated the relationships with friends and family. The devious mother/godmother in Erica Ridley’s “A Match Unmasked” made me laugh with her schemes, as did the antics of elderly Aunt Fedora and the youngest Bentley Flower, Lily, in Sabrina York’s “One Simple Kiss.” I’ve always liked A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and I enjoyed seeing how different authors incorporated that theme. I was particularly charmed with how Heather Snow used appropriate quotes from the play as chapter headings in her story, “Lovers and Madmen.” This collection is a fun way to discover new authors, and I highly recommend it to fans of historical romance.
