About this ebook

Traveling by train through the West, wealthy young American Grenfall Lorry meets a beautiful girl and falls hopelessly in love with her. The girl, who, unknown to Grenfall, is the Princess Yetive, is called home to the Kingdom of Graustark against her will in order to marry Gabriel, the prince of a neighboring country. Grenfall follows her, and Gabriel orders one of his henchmen, Dangloss, to put him out of the way. The men fight, and Dangloss is wounded. Spiriting Dangloss out of the country, Gabriel has Grenfall tried for his "murder." Yetive frees him and sends him to the border, where he finds Dangloss. Returning with Dangloss just as the wedding ceremony begins, Grenfall discredits Gabriel, who leaves the country in disgrace. Yetive appeals to the populace and wins their approval to marry the American commoner.
