Thank you Dale Mayer for yet another heartwarming story in the Hathaway House series, this is book number seven but the series loses none of it's impetus. Gregory Parkin, a navy SEAL, is admitted to Hathaway House Rehab Centre after being badly injured in a bomb blast whilst on a mission, he thinks that he is past needing another rehab centre but he wanted to go to Hathaway House after discovering that Meredith Anderson was working there as a nurse. Meredith and Gregory had a fast, torrid relationship five years earlier which sadly ended when he refused to leave the navy and she couldn't live with the thought of him being in danger. Gregory quickly learned that his recovery wasn't as far advanced as he had thought and he was quickly brought to rock bottom before he could start to claw his way back up. Meredith was heartbroken watching him struggle but neither of them were willing to face the elephant in the room..... their previous relationship and their current feelings. This is another gentle romance highlighting the highs and lows of relationships and the need to communicate, it also highlights the sacrifices made by the brave military personnel. All the lovely characters from the previous books are there and although this is one of a series it can be read as a standalone , I can highly recommend it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Gregory is recovering from an IED explosion and since most of his surgeries are done, he is researching rehab facilities to finish his recovery. He has experienced rehab and feels he has a pretty good handle on that part. While looking for a place he comes upon a picture of the staff at Hathaway House that includes Meredith triggering memories of the woman he met 5 years ago and knew for only 3 weeks. However he has not been able to forget her. They disagreed about him going back into the Navy. He needed to return and she wanted him to stay with her. She had lost a brother overseas and wasn't ready to repeat that pain. They did not leave on good terms but he decided to choose Hathaway House with her in mind. Gregory's therapist Shane, was tougher than anticipated and he (Gregory) had more trouble than he expected with the rehab. So despite the great food, Dennis in the kitchen happy to help, Stan the vet with all the animals, many of them therapy ones and great support all around, Gregory faltered at first. His team felt Meredith should back off from being his primary nurse for a short period which had positive and negative affects for both parties. This is a great heartwarming story that tugs on your heart strings and reminds you that life can sometimes hand you a lot of challenges. It's a quick read, 126 pages according to Amazon, but packs a lot onto each page. The epilogue includes a look at the next book in the series that includes Heath who also chooses Hathaway House for much different reasons. Apparently Houston has always been home and he has a gut feeling he wants to follow. I'm looking forward to another adventure there.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily reviewing it. I adore this series. Each book is about a strong alpha warrior who was brought to his knee during conflict and is facing the battle of a lifetime. Enduring the pain of rebuilding his body and soul at Hathaway House. This story is one that just touches the soul. Gregory is a SEAL who was injured in battle. After various different treatments and therapy, he goes to Hathaway House as his former love, Meredith Anderson is a nurse there. They parted five years ago as Meredith didn't want Gregory to leave her for the Navy. These two have an emotional road to haul to get to their HEA. Both have to face their part in their break-up. Meredith also has the additional burden of seeing the man she once loved and still does, go through the journey of healing his broken body. There were so many great sections in this book that I had to re-read them over and over. This book is such a emotional roller-coaster. You will go on a high and then plunge into a low with the characters. Having this book written in a dual POV format really helps to make these two more human. This is a sweet, clean second chance romance that I would highly recommend to anyone.
