About this ebook

She's always been off-limits. He's always just out of reach.

Falling in love with Gabe Anderson was as easy as breathing. Fighting my feelings for my brother’s best friend was agonizingly hard. I never imagined giving in to my desire for him would cause such a destructive ripple effect. That kiss was my grasp at a lifeline—something, anything to hold me steady in my crumbling life. Now, I have to suffer with the fallout while trying to convince him it’s all worth the consequences.

Guilt overwhelms me—over what I’ve done, the lives I’ve taken, and more than anything, over my feelings for Skye Hawke. Craving my best friend’s little sister is insanely self-destructive. It never should have happened, but since the moment she kissed me, I haven’t been able to get her out of my mind. If I take what I want, I risk losing everything. If I don’t, I’ll lose her and a piece of myself. The raging storm threatening to rain down on the city is nothing compared to the one that will come from my decision.

Love can be torture, but sometimes, love is the only thing that can save you.

*** Tortured Skye is the second book in The Hawke Family Series. While it is a complete story, it is NOT meant to be read as a standalone. The story of the Hawke siblings begins in Savage Collision (book one) and continues in book two, Tortured Skye, book three, Stone Sober, and finally book four, Building Storm. These stories all build on one another and are intertwined. They need to be read in order to fully enjoy and understand the plots.

"Tortured Skye" picked up where "Savage Collision" left off. Skye, still reeling from events in her life three to four years prior, turns to the one man (besides Savage) who's always promised to be there for her, only to be rejected. Lucky for her, Gabe can't forget about her, but their HEA takes some work. It was great watching the characters grow and change throughout the book, especially Skye, who came a long way from the person we met in Book 1. Again, Ms. McNamee makes the reactions and emotions so real and honest, you feel as though you know these people well. I'm happy that I went with my initial instinct to read "Savage Collision" first. While the romance between Gabe & Skye is good on its own (the heat factor is definitely turned up :) ), reading the first book in the series answers many questions and paves the way for the setting in Book 2. I strongly suggest beginning with Savage's story. I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

Tortured Skye: A Hawke Family Novel (The Hawke Family Book 2) by Gwyn McNamee 5+++++ Stars It has been awhile since I read Savage Collision and I'll admit I kinda forgot just how much I love this author and her books, and how I absolutely couldn't wait for the next in the Hawke Series. I loved Skyes story and everything that went with it. This author knows how to hook you on page 1 and literally won't let you go even after you finish and that's because she lets you in just a bit on what is coming next and thankfully I have the next sitting here waiting for me to start. I love this family and those that are part of it even if they aren't, like Gabe, who has been a part of the family for over 20 years and Savage’s best friend, which is why wanting Savage’s little sister is such a bad idea, especially when he is dealing with so many ghosts haunting him from his past. Skye Hawke, Savage’s little sister who has tried very hard to push everyone away and cant seem to get over the loss of her twin sister. She threw herself at Gabe at Savage and Dani’s wedding and was rejected and knows that pursuing him will do nothing but cause problems within the family, but can she help herself? I loved this story, and this family...I have become emotionally invested in all of them and love how this author can throw in some twists that you don't see coming. This was an off the charts hot yet emotional read and I can not wait to dive in to Stone’s story. Highly recommend, but don't read these out of order, they all tie together and you really need all the pieces to fit! Loved It!!

Emotionally gripping, full of angst, passion, and love neither will divulge for the other. I just wanted to scream at Gabe and Skye to just get over theirselves, because it was painful knowing they belonged together, and could in fact help each other heal the burdens they'd been fighting for years. Gabe fought the pull because Skye is his best friend's sister and their family were his surrogate family, but alas the feelings that just got stronger couldn't be ignored. Love wins.
