Dans la pensée d'un chercheur, il y a toujours du métaphysique, que Bachelard appela " impureté métaphysique ". Il s'agit selon lui " d'une métaphysique intuitive ". Il appela alors à la remplacer par une " métaphysique objectivement rectifiée ". En informatique, le métaphysique n'est plus intuitif, il a été objectivement rectifié. Mais il a plus, certaines applications informatiques, comme la réalité virtuelle ou les jeux électroniques, apportèrent une autre sorte de rectification, non pas à la métaphysique mais au limites traditionnelles entre sujet et objet.
