I think I like this series because it revolves around cupcakes (and a cupcake food truck) and that the book isn't super long (it is a novella so I was able to read it pretty quickly). The mystery is who killed the mayor? He isn't well liked so there is no shortage of suspects. When the killer is revealed it is something of a surprise because I did not expect this person to be the killer. I like that Amelia is learning to stand up to her ex-husband (he is an egotistical jerk!). She has 2 great kids that are helpful and supportive. And I think she likes a certain police detective. Great series and I like the cupcake recipes at the end. maybe one day I'll try one of them.

A fun though at times dark read. My main complaint for Harper Lin is the too short stories! Feels like these characters and stories could be developed deeper instead of bubblegum reads, missed opportunity for a better novel.

Amelia still plays nice with her scumbag ex while solving a murder & a developing situation with Dan, the cop.
