About this eBook

Hatch is more than happy to step up and to rescue the missing father-and-daughter archeological duo. Now if only it were that easy. They’d been questioned by the Egyptian government and released, with a warning to not leave Cairo. But, when their hotel room is found empty, most believe they took off ahead of punishment—but not Hatch’s team.

When the father’s foreman turns up dead, Hatch investigates the body-dump location and finds the daughter, weaving through the sand, ready to collapse.

Milly is shaken and grieving. During her captivity, her father dies, and she escapes, only to find herself lost in the sand dunes. She may be safe, but her father will never come home. Millie is determined to find the man responsible for her father’s death and for the information that’s changed her entire life.

The Mavericks are a black ops team, all highly trained ex military personnel, working for the government, but without the constraints of the military. They work in pairs and this time it was Hatch Collar's turn to lead, his long time buddie, Corbin Wallace was to be his backup. Millicent Bragner (Millie) and her father Marcus, both archaeologists on a dig in Egypt, had disappeared, the US government didn't want to upset the Egyptian government by sending in a full force SEAL team so it was up to the Mavericks to stealthily enter Egypt and find the pair and get them back to the US. The locals were tight lipped and suspicious, they thought that Marcus and Millie had just walked out of the did without paying them. The Egyptian community were poor and they relied on the digs to survive. Rumours were rife that Marcus was up to no good, was he defrauding the Egyptian government ? a loose tongued drunken conversation in a pub put both his and Millie's lives in danger, these people were powerful, the body count escalated as they cleaned up their tracks, they had Marcus and Millie in their hands, they would get the information they needed, or had they already got it ? This book tells the story of Millie's escape and being rescued half dead by Hatch, the mistrust in the Egyptian government, the powerful people who were able to sell precious artifacts to the highest bidder, the poverty and the lengths that individuals were prepared to go to get out of it, a daughter facing the fact that her father may be the man that she had always believed in and lastly the blossoming love between Millie and Hatch. This is a great story, Dale Mayer's description of the dark back alleys etc made it so easy to imagine what it was like there, it was lovely to see the appearance of MI6 agent Jonas appear again and I now look forward to reading Cobin's story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Hatch Collar is looking for missing Archaeologists Marcus, and his daughter Millie. The father and daughter team have been abducted, and Hatch along with Corbin need to find them. Marcus is being treated like a thief, and poor Millie doesn't know who to believe. Is her Dad really nothing more than a common thief. Millie's dad has been known to get drunk in pubs, and then babble incoherently. Has he put them both at risk with his drunken ramblings.. Hatch is protective, and compassionate with Millie, but even he has doubts about her father's innocence. Page after page of nonstop reading.. I was bleary eyed after an overnight binge style read. No putting this book down until I finished it. Another suspenseful read in The Mavericks series.

3.5 stars. Not a fan of instant love which is jokingly referred to when Hatch and Corbin chat about what their task is. Once again Hatch and Millie's relationship is more visible to Corbin his partner rather than me the reader. I did not quite see or rather feel the chemistry between the two. At times Millie's thought process was a little difficult to feel at one with. I enjoyed the action, the mystery, the drama and the suspense. Egypt, the pyramids and the archaeological digs is the setting for this story and the fast paced clue finding is attractive. Once all the drama is over then it's a quick let's get to know one another better. Not withstanding that you know you want to keep reading because you do want to know how the book ends. When it's finished it's just good that all is well and ends well including both the hero and heroine.
