About the author
Anni Downs has loved to sew
for as long as she can remember.
She realized her dream
of working with fabric when she
left a computer graphics career
in Brisbane, Australia, to live in
Coonamble, 17 years ago. There,
she found herself surrounded
by an inspiring community of
sewers and began designing quilt
patterns for a local mail-order
patchwork company. In 1996, Anni formed her own patchwork design
business, Hatched and Patched. Since then, she has designed more than
100 patterns and self-published eight books. Handwork is Anni’s greatest
passion, and when she travels, she always has a stitching project in hand.
She enjoys spending most of her time exploring the many possibilities of
fabric and other mediums.
Anni lives in Bathurst, Australia, with her husband Pete, daughter
Samantha, son Tim, and a crazy cat (Munch) and dog (Tilly). She owns
a quilt shop, The Home Patch, located in an historical inn. Some Kind of
Wonderful is her first book with Kansas City Star Quilts.
