About the author

Professor Risto Tuominen received his dental and PhD degrees from the University of Helsinki, Finland, and his Master’s of Public Health from the University of California, Los Angeles, USA. He has worked as dental researcher and educator since 1980, and has authored more than 150 original scientific publications, mainly in the fields of health economics and oral health care. He has also extensively developed contingent valuation methodology for cost-effectiveness analyses.
