Abstract: This booklet presents nutrition information for pregnant teens and young adults at the 4th to 6th grade reading level. Two pregnant teens, Kim and Maria, meet at the health clinic and learn from one another about how to make good food choices. Information is conveyed through realistic dialogue, illustrations, and specific recommendations. Kim and Maria's friendship develops throughout the book as they discuss the joys and discomforts of their pregnancies, how much weight to gain, where their advic e came from and how to feed their new babies. They begin to adopt health promoting eating habits which they will share with their families. This material is appropriate for use with low literacy populations.
