Cait knows that kissing the brawny Highlander is a dangerous game. It was bad enough she picked his pocket to feed the children in her care, but sometimes a desperate woman must disguise her crimes any way she can. Only her act of deception has made things worse... Trying to find balance between justice and love Gideon is the most dedicated of the four Sinclair sons, fully dedicated to their roles as the Four Horsemen from the Bible as drilled into them by their now-deceased father. He has had to find his own self-worth through his application of justice, yet when he meets the desperate yet beloved Cait Mackay, he starts to question just who he is and who he has to be. Cait's life has been anything but just, yet she's become a compassionate, caring leader who runs a small orphanage and will do quite literally anything to provide for her young charges. She demonstrates that wisdom, patience, and mercy are essential to true justice, and she challenges him to do the right thing, regardless of what the rules say. I loved their slow, sensuous love story, and I actually laughed out loud at the events that relegated the king to the second-best quarters in the castle! I adored the inclusion of historical figures, including King James, and the author's inclusion of quotes from various laws throughout history was elucidating and provided great context for the dilemmas that Gideon faced. I loved the emphasis on learning and the value of books, and welcomed the timely commentary on today's politics. This is a tremendously satisfying continuation of the Sons of Sinclair series, and I'm looking forward to reading more from this talented author. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Highland Justice by Heather McCollum Sons of Sinclair #3 The tale of the four horsemen of Revelation returns with the third son, Gideon Sinclair, as lead of the story. Raised as the Horseman of Justice, he has always put the law first and made judgements accordingly. When he meets Cait Mackay he begins to question some of the rules he has held so dear and wonder if perhaps his father was not 100% correct in all that he told his sons. This is the story of Gideon and Cait and how they come together and in coming together learn and grow as people and as a couple. What I liked: * The Sinclair brothers and their backstory’s ability to form them into the men they become * Seeing how the brothers are doing and what has happened with the ones who have married already * Gideon: rigid, rule bound, focused, unyielding, bound to his brothers and their purpose, prefers order, there for his family, more open to change than he realized he was * Cait: widow, cares for several orphans, has a difficult backstory, agile, works hard to keep her “children” and neighbors safe and cared for, has much to learn as she gets to know Gideon * The orphans and the part they played in the story * The leaves…crunchy leaves…smiling thinking of them as I type * Learning more about Hogmany feasts * The gentle way Cait helped Gideon improve his relationship with the clan * The location in time and place, the plot, and the resolution at the end * Believing that Gideon and Cait were well suited and a believable couple * The way the village supported Cait * Hoping that the evil doers would be determined and dealt with * Realizing that this era is easier to live in than the one this book was set in * The animals * That the supporting characters provided color and fleshed out the overall story * That it was easy to dislike the bad guys * The taste of history What I didn’t like: * Knowing how difficult it must have been to live back then * Realizing how harsh many of the punishments were back then * All that I was meant not to like Did I enjoy this book? Yes Would I read more in this series? Definitely Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing-Amara – This is my honest review. 5 Stars

This story centers around the third Sinclair son, or what the deceased Sinclair Laird George would call his sons, the Horsemen of war. After his wife died in childbirth, with his fourth son, he was filled with grief and became a bit eccentric and insane. He renamed all his sons from the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. They are figures in the Christian religion, first appearing in the Old Testament's prophetic Book of Zechariah and in the Book of Ezekiel, where they are named as punishments from God, and later in the New Testament's final book, Revelation, an apocalypse written by John of Patmos. Gideon Sinclair is the God of God of equality/ balance why he had a set of scales in his bedchamber. Also know as the Horsemen of Justice. Now The Sons of Sinclair saga continues with the third installment of the Sons of Sinclair… Gideon Sinclair saw things as black and white, it was right or it was wrong, it was good or it was evil. There were no in betweens or grey areas or undecided. Now that they had overtaken the battling MacKays he was trying to merge them with Clan Sinclair. He could pass judgement without mercy and that was until he met Cait MacKay. A woman he first meets by saving her drowning younger sister. How does she replay him? By stealing his new gold ring he had just gifted all his siblings for Hogmanay and taking three shillings which he had caught and must punish the woman he desires for her crimes. Cait MacKay was a widow and was forced into an unhappy marriage when she was only fifteen summers . Now with an older woman Cait runs an orphans home. Yet they are starving and cold because she refused the MacKay Clan’s Steward’s advances so he wasn’t giving them the food and supplies Gideon had ordered. Yet Cait will do anything to save and protect her children. Gideon Sinclair did not want the MacKay clan to view him as a monster. Yet he did believe people should be punished for crimes and dishonesty. Soon this woman who dances in the snow, does aerial flying in the trees, making Gideon turns his head like no other. She cares for mistreated forgotten orphans and cares for them like a mother. As she had never been able to conceive which her dead husband reminded her on a daily basis. Yet she would kill, steal or die for her orphaned children. Cait starts to see this Highlander of Justice in a different light as he tries to help her and her family. Excepts in the middle of the Hogmanay celebration king James visits and someone want to set up someone she cares deeply for as a scapegoat for a treasonous attack! Will Gideon be able to save Cait and those she loves by turning away from his convictions and belief’s. Read and find out! Another phenomenal story by my go to author, Heather McCollum, and a breathtaking story that totally swept me away! I loved so many things in this awe-inspiring magnificent read! It is filled with the brutal reality of children losing parents at such a young age. In this time period and this situation many orphaned children would end up on the streets. Luckily this wonderful inspiring heroine with a big warm golden heart found and saved these neglected orphans. Furthermore, she would do anything to protect them, even if it meant surrendering herself and putting her life on the line. As for Gideon, who had been trained at a young age-you are either good or bad. Yet once this woman who had been sold into an unwanted marriage at such a young age opened his heart. Gideon began to understand that maybe there are other possibilities and grey areas in life. After all we are all only human and sometimes decisions are made under extenuating circumstances. Yes, I absolutely loved this story and it a riveting, fast paced, action packed romantic adventure, filled with espionage, treason, murder, arrests, imprisonment, betrayal, robbery, honesty, trust, caring, passion, love and so much more. I loved this book so much from start to finish and can’t wait to read Bás story next! This is definitely a story not to be missed that I highly recommend!
