Whenever I pick up a book by this talented author I know am in for a treat. This one proved me right. Not only was it a touching story , but it was also thought provoking. The story centers around Jill Davis and Sam Hawker. They met three years ago in a bar. On a totally out of character move, Jill had a one night stand with a stranger she met in a bar. Neither has forgotten the other. One was the lifeline in a time of despair, the other one was a memory that has affected how they “grade” any potential relationship. When they meet again by chance , Sam , now a former Marine, is looking for a job in the adventure venture Jill is managing employing former military individuals. The sparks fly and even though obstacles are in their way, the “one more night” let them know the connection was real. It was at times heartbreaking, at others funny. Also , it was a reminder that the experiences we have in our childhood and youth, and how our parents react to them, do in fact affect us as adults. In addition to a reminder of the physical and emotional devastations that many of our returning troops suffer while in war. We need to support and assist these brave men and women returning to civilian life. Kudos to the author for that reminder. I am looking forward to the next book by Ms. Bell. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
