Loki will burn down the world to save me.

The Mad King has risen, Odin has declared Sif a traitor, and the dark elves are regrouping.

Everything around Sif is in flames.

Time is running out for Sif and her now-scattered motley crew of friends, as the line between good or bad is blurring. Her only hope may be in Loki, who is willing to risk all for her, against all odds.

However, no one is safe from Lady Hel's terror.

What happens when war comes at a great cost and with even greater consequences?

“Noooooooo….!” she wails like a banshee into the night. “You can’t leave me there!” I realize that’s completely the wrong mythology, but at the moment my native Scandinavian fails me for the equivalent harbinger of doom. (The corbies just don’t have the same menace. I say this with authority as I sit here listening to the crows, ravens, magpies, and jays squabble over the garbage in my back alley.) There are so many layers of plots, counter-plots, double-crosses, and misdirections going on in this story, I know I haven’t managed to keep track of them all. I’m in awe at the author’s ability to do it. I also know that she’s going to hit me hard when I least expect it with something I didn’t see coming from one of those threads I lost track of. I’m slightly afraid of what it’s going to be, but I’m just so eager to find out what happens next, I’m willing to take the hit. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through Booksprout.
