Entertaining look at 1840s Mormons (premartyrdom). As a whole, he comes off as a reliable witness. He clearly has an agenda and I'm a little skeptical of some of his claims (and of the reliability of some of his sources), but as a whole, I enjoyed reading it. Interesting to view then's antiMormonism from today's perspective. Didn't shake my faith or anything (frankly, I'm unsurprised by a lot of the malarkey he accuses the Saints of), but fascinating how on-target many of his predictions of the future proved to be.
