This is the 2nd book I've read written by Lorhainne Eckhart; I can’t wait to read more of her books. This is the second book of the Billy Jo McCabe Mystery Series; Billy Jo grew up in foster care bouncing from home to home; she never got along with the other family members until she was adopted by Chase McCabe. She blamed her mother for everything wrong in her life because she didn’t stick around to raise her but when she starts searching for her it became clear that someone doesn’t want her find her mother or the secrets that surround her. I received a free copy of this book via booksprout and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.

Everyone has secrets and in this story this is also true, but sometimes secrets are not meant to be known because they just make you feel worse and wish you hadn´t know them. In this story the secrets untold is what will make Billy Joe and Mark deepen their friendship and understand one another better. It´ll also make both know how relationships work in the island. This is an easy read that keeps you entertained from the beginning to the end. Really good! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The girl who had been an addict and left her addicted baby daughter behind had grown into a now respectable member of the island community- a teacher married to a native son, him a friend to the Chief of police. Detective Mark feels the pressure from his boss to contain any damage Billy Jo might be trying to inflict. Someone appears to be keeping a close eye on Billy Jo, likely not with friendly intent. Buried pains and angers are uncovered, but not all. As Mark says to Billy Jo, some truths are things you might not wish to know- bells cannot be unrung. Pains, pressures, and insular island practices and prejudices.
