You’ll discover in this book:

•                  Why expanding your homestead too soon is hurting your progress – and what you need to do instead.

•                  How to get the perfect piece of land without breaking the bank.

•                  The lies that gmo companies tell you about your food.

Sustainability on a small scale feels like it's going to become an issue that individuals, families, and communities may be confronted with in the coming years. If this proves to be the case or not having a handbook around which will help you intelligently utilize the resources you have on hand also feels like the right path to be on. This book is concise, packed full of diagrams and thought starters, and logically laid out so that you can read it, reference it.

I loved the clear layout and well-organized progression through the book. From explanations of the 3 tenets, 11 principles, 6 zones, and more to ideas on saving water and ideas for smaller groupings, there's a lot of information in this book. Coming from a 5 element acupuncturist living in the severe drought of the mountain West, the foundation of permaculture makes so much sense. I'd love to see this book included in high school science curriculum.

It covers so many subjects I can't list them all here, with thorough details, instructions, illustrations, and pics. The subjects range from how to build your own house; beekeeping; raising meat, milk animals; soap making; quilting; and building furniture. So very interesting and helpful. Well written and presented, and easy to understand. Excellent instructional book for those who enjoy diy's or just simple/smart common sence knowledge on self-reliance. Brilliant.
